Do you ever find yourself saying, “I just can’t!”
I can’t take any more whining, I can’t make that big of a decision, I can’t have a good attitude right now, I can’t handle their parenting style – you get the idea. I. JUST. CAN’T.
It’s in these moments I start to feel incredibly weak. My mind spirals into thinking I should be able to handle each and every situation. But, the reality is I just can’t.
The good news? We can’t but He can.
We’re not perfect. We are all unfinished pieces of work that are in the constant process of refinement. Part of that refinement is coming to the realization that we are imperfect.
I love how the Bible is filled with promise after promise reminding us how He can do more than we could ever ask or imagine.
He strengthens us when we are weak (Isaiah 40:31)
He is our helper (Isaiah 41:13)
He shows us compassion (Isaiah 54:10)
He is with us always (Joshua 1:9)
He will meet our needs (Philippians 4:19)
He is our ultimate comforter (Psalm 23:4)
He wants good things for us (Psalm 37:4)
So today, when I realize “I just can’t” I’m going to take a deep breath and invite the one who can to intervene on my behalf.
Come Jesus, come into this place and be the compassion, comfort, strength, and helper we all need to survive this crazy mess of a world.
