That’s what I think when I scroll through Instagram. Isn’t she lovely? WOW, she’s so pretty. She’s got it all together – every.single.little.thing. It’s funny how quickly I look up from my feed and realize my normal looks nothing like 90% of the pictures I see on an hourly basis.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love to follow pretty accounts and I do value good creative work. The struggle comes when I start to think all this “perfectionism” is real life. It’s at this point that scrolling shifts from being a mindless hobby to an instigator of feeling less-than.
Today, it’s too easy to think that perfect lighting, white countertops, and the half-laugh smile is “truth” when the real truth is that God wants us near no matter our imperfections.
So, what is “Lovely Truth”? It’s simply a way to fill my feed with things that the Lord says are good.
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”Philippians 4:8
This is what I hope Lovely Truth to be. A place that brings you inspiration and encouragement and maybe a giggle or two. I like to think of it as somewhere between fresh flowers and spilled milk.
This is the lovely truth,
